Process Engineer/Manager, Eugene Sawyer Water Purification Plant
Angela’s love for the farmer’s market began many years ago when she would accompany her father weekly to get fresh flowers and produce. After moving to the South Loop, she discovered Green City market over 10 years ago. Every Saturday morning everyone knew that she could be found in Lincoln Park at Green City Market at 7am rain or shine. No other market was comparable; she would enthusiastically share her experiences with neighbors, friends, family members and classmates alike encouraging them to accompany her.
While attending University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business, the idea of working on a board for whom she was most passionate about came to mind. Green City’s devotion for promoting a healthier society through education, exposure and availability, creating organic relationships between local producers, farmers, chefs, restaurateurs, food organizations, enthusiasts, families and neighbors was where she could share her enthusiasm, while providing knowledge and insight.
Just as encouraging and nurturing an appreciation and love for local sustainable foods are important so is providing millions of Chicagoans potable safe drinking water. Working for the City of Chicago Water Systems as a Filtration Engineer for over 20 years, Angela is currently a member of the leadership team at the Eugene Sawyer Water Purification Plant.
