Director of Operations, Thrive Chicago
A Chicago native, Greg returned to the city in 2009 after working for one of the nation's largest suppliers of herbs and spices. He currently works as the Director of Operations for the collective impact non-profit "Thrive Chicago". An alum of The University of Miami, Greg also serves on the Board of the Chicago Cane's alumni association. When he's not cheering on The Canes, he can be found DJing at some of the top spots the city. He has a passion for food and spends the majority of his free time cooking for his wife and daughter with beautiful local produce from their garden, or Green City Market.
What inspired you to get involved with Green City Market?
When I returned to Chicago I was looking for a place to buy better produce than I saw at my local grocer. A friend invited me to the market one day and I was amazed at all the educational programming they provided as well as the variety of items available.
What’s the most delicious thing you’ve ever purchased from the GCM?
On a weekly basis I'm always enamored with the Raclette sandwiches from Bunkrow/Baked Cheesehaus. In terms of produce, I love the variety of delicious and unique melons Seedling Fruit offers toward the end of the summer.
What’s your favorite Jr. Board event?
My favorite Jr. Board events are The Big Table Dinners. It is beautiful to see a room full of people come together, from all different walks of life and share a delicious meal.
