Production and Marketing Manager, Growing Power Chicago

Laurell Sims is Growing Power Chicago’s Production and Marketing Manager. She was hired in 2006 to coordinate Growing Power's youth employment program, which expanded from 30 teens to over 200 teens during her tenure. Laurell now focuses on managing the production of Growing Power’s six urban farms in Chicago and marketing produce to local restaurants and farmers’ markets. Ms. Sims was selected for a State Department Bold Food Fellowship in Uganda in 2012, as a Slow Food Terra Madre delegate in 2014, served as the Education and Outreach Chair for the Green City Market Junior Board from 2010-2014, and has sold produce on behalf of Growing Power since 2006 at Green City Market. Additionally, Laurell is the Snail of Approval Chairperson for the Slow Food Chicago Board of Directors.  In her spare time, Laurell is a volunteer magician for Open Heart Magic at Comer Children's Hospital.
