Jared Batson is a Chef here in Chicago and was born & raised in the Chicago-land area. He's cooked and traveled across the country and worldwide, and will always hold Chicago as his true home base. Having worked under many inspirational and accomplished chefs in Chicago, California, Ohio, and the esteemed Ballymaloe School in Ireland, Jared developed a passion to support local sustainable agriculture and use the finest seasonal ingredients whenever possible. Through his current culinary work and his involvement with the Junior Board, he hopes to further the Green City Market mission and support all things local!
What inspired you to get involved with Green City Market?
I've knew I wanted to be more deeply involved with GCM after working under one of my most inspiring Chef/Mentors, Sarah Stegner, who is also one of the Market's co-founders.
What’s the most delicious thing you’ve ever purchased from the GCM?
If I had to narrow the amazing food items offered at Green City Market down to a top 3 list it'd be: Goat's Milk Gelato from Prairie Fruits Farm, any 'Our House' Pizza, and the Boules from Crumb Bakery - in no particular order.
What’s your favorite Jr. Board event?
While they're all incredible, my favorite Junior Board event would have to be the Big Table Dinners.
