Vice President, Wagstaff Worldwide
It was a trip to meet relatives in Sicily and Paris that confirmed for Carissa that: 1) her innate appreciation for everything from fine wine to great handmade meals were passed down through the generations, and 2) she made the right choice in her career path. After a brief hiccup toiling in the Los Angeles film industry, Carissa attended culinary school in San Francisco and worked with the San Francisco Chronicle. She joined the San Francisco office of Wagstaff Worldwide in 2006, and following a successful run, which included growing the team and more than doubling revenue while co-heading the office as vice president, she relocated to Chicago in 2014. The Chicago office, which she now leads, has grown to be the second largest in the company. She is excited by the challenges of exploring and learning the nuances of a new city—including eating at every restaurant and shopping at the Green City Market.
What inspired you to get involved with Green City Market?
I first learned about the Jr. Board from one of the founding members, Emilie Zanger, and loved the idea of supporting spreading the word about sustainable agriculture and raising funds to support the Link matching program while having fun.
What’s the most delicious thing you’ve ever purchased from the GCM?
It’s a toss-up – either pizza made by fellow Jr. Board member Jared Batson or Bushel & Peck’s Dilly Beans.
What’s your favorite Jr. Board event?
I’ve loved participating in our Big Table Dinners! Bringing together communities over delicious food in Chicago’s parks is an awesome experience.
