Originally from small-town Indiana, Clarisa detasseled corn every summer and grew up having a variety of animals including chickens, ducks, and goats. Upon college graduation, she moved to Chicago to begin her career in Finance at Goldman Sachs. Clarisa has since transitioned to Baker & McKenzie where she supports the Banking & Finance Practice and serves on the Office Management Committee. Outside of her professional life, Clarisa is an avid runner and lover of the Field Museum. She paces for Nike+ Run Club (Come run with us!) and also serves as Treasurer of the Field Associates Auxiliary Board. Clarisa has a deep appreciation for artisan bread and can often be found with her nose in a book or lost in a local bakery.  She loves to travel, meet new people and has a passion for wildlife and cultural understanding.

What inspired you to get involved with Green City Market?

Being raised in the country, my passion for people and nature quickly lead me to the GCM Community.  I love spending my Saturday mornings shopping with my dog and conversing with the local farmers. After co-authoring a Homeless Youth Handbook chapter focused on Government and Community Meal Programs (WIC, SNAP/EBT at Farmer's Markets, Free School Lunch, etc.), I wanted to help support the GCM's LINK Card Matching Program.

What’s the most delicious thing you’ve ever purchased from the GCM?

Is there anything more satisfying than fresh, thick crusted bread slathered with good butter? When it comes to the GCM, I guess you could say I'm a butter girl!  My year-round preference is Nordic Creamery's Goat Butter, while Summer Butter comes in at a very close second.  Literally, I stock up - butter freezes perfectly!

What’s your favorite Jr. Board event?

I absolutely love our Big Table Dinners. There is something so special about the sense of community the event fosters throughout our city. What could be better than laughter, smiles and fellowship around a communal table with great food?  Let's bring back the art of conversation and connection!
