Co-founder, CEO, Oars + Alps

Mia Saini Duchnowski is the Co-Founder and CEO of Oars + Alps - a direct to consumer skincare line for the millennial man. The company launched in early 2015 after Mia quit her high-profile job as a TV Reporter with Bloomberg TV, one of the largest financial TV networks in the world, because her dreams are even larger. Mia holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School. She was a double major at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in neuroscience and media studies and a double minor in civil engineering and management science from MIT Sloan School of Management. While at MIT, she interned at NASA Ames Research Center doing artificial intelligence research. She was featured in Glamour Magazine as one of their Top Ten College Women in 2004. She is passionate about Type 2 Diabetes education, having founded the Diabetes Awareness Program from 1998-2008.

What inspired you to get involved with Green City Market?

I have always had a passion for raising Type 2 Diabetes awareness. I believe a proper diet combined with a proper fitness regimen is helpful in decreasing one's chances of getting Type 2 Diabetes. I love that the Green City Market provides healthy food options to underserved community members. I enjoy being part of a wonderful organization that stands for sustainable growing.

What’s the most delicious thing you’ve ever purchased from the GCM?

Summer peaches!

What’s your favorite Jr. Board event?

I had a lot of fun at the Mostly Veggie Affair (mainly because I eat like a vegetarian on most days and don't eat most meat!).
