Communications Coordinator, Green City Market
A Portland, Oregon native, Katie came to Chicago in 2015 and has fallen in love with the city’s urban agriculture initiatives, creative artistic communities, and vibrant local food scene.
Katie brings experience in editorial and publicity work at a number of magazines, literary reviews and publishing companies to the market staff. Most recently, Katie worked in the Continuing Education Department of Chicago’s Newberry Library. Katie holds a degree in English Literature from Kenyon College in Ohio, where she got her first taste of the Midwest locavore and environmentalist movements while living in and managing the environmental center’s farm house. Katie studied in Dublin, Ireland where she managed a radio station, biked all over the country, and developed a new love of farm fresh produce (those Irish carrots!). After college she worked as a cheese monger and catering manager at a small, local wine and cheese shop in Portland and worked at an artist collective resource center and zine library. In her role as Communications Coordinator, Katie brings her passion for the stories we tell through the food we grow, cook, and eat.
A bookworm and major public radio nerd, Katie also enjoys biking, baking and keeping her family of succulents alive and well.
