Big Delicious Planet - Catering, Canteen, & Urban Farm (BDP)
Since our founding in 1994 by Owner Heidi Coudal, Big Delicious Planet has evolved from catering backstage for thousands of the world’s most popular musicians to a certified green farm-to-table operation with a lush urban farm. Throughout BDP’s history, our passion has been creating unforgettable experiences for our clients, whether it’s catering a stylish, luxury wedding, designing a one-of-a-kind event in the middle of our own urban farm, or feeding globally-inspired cuisine to employees of the world’s most recognized brands. Delicious, high-quality food, and eye-catching presentations have remained the focus of our catering from day one.
BDP is a certified WBENC, and we’re a 4 Star Certified Green operation, and ranked “Greenest Caterer in America,” with our own Urban Farm on three city lots adjacent to our Chicago kitchen. When BDP began 28 years ago, Heidi never imagined that years later she’d have a Farm Manager on staff organically growing almost 7000 pounds of vegetables a year for our own use, and three beehives producing hundreds of pounds of honey.
Each year, we cater weddings and events all throughout Chicago. We also have a cafe, The Canteen that is reopening this summer after closure during the pandemic. The Canteen menu highlights seasonal ingredients with produce from our Urban Farm. We are so excited to be open in the West Town neighborhood again!
