Originally opened in London in 2006 by childhood friends Will Beckett and Huw Gott, Hawksmoor has carved a niche for itself as a world class dining destination known for its rigorous standards for ingredients and employment ethics, with recognition as one of few restaurants worldwide with a B Corp Certification, a three-star rating by the Green Restaurant Association, over a decade of recognition as a Best Company To Work For, and more. Named the #1 Steakhouse in the World by World’s Best Steak Restaurants in 2022, Hawksmoor’s menu centers around steaks from ethically reared cattle and sustainably sourced seafood alongside one of the country’s most progressive cocktail programs, which has twice won Best International Restaurant Bar at Tales of the Cocktail’s Spirited Awards. In the summer of 2024, Hawksmoor launched their first Chicago location inside the landmark LaSalle Street Cable Car Powerhouse. The 16,500 square foot, three-story space was designed collaboratively between Hawksmoor’s design team headed by Mai-Yee Ng and UK Interior Architecture firm Macaulay Sinclair, and restores original elements of the original historic building while introducing new elements inspired by the “Golden Age of Travel.” The Chicago menu features new dishes inspired by the city’s rich culinary history and a bar program highlighting local spirits with a heavy Irish whiskey focus.
