Bio

Proprietor Sandy Chen was inspired to open Le Sud after traveling throughout France, experiencing first hand the flavorful meals of Provence. The quaint, countryside towns reminded Sandy of her hometown in China, Zhe Jiang, a waterfront city surrounded by mountains on three sides. The cuisines of Provence and Zhe Jiang both incorporate fresh, local ingredients with recipes that have been passed down for generations. In keeping with these traditions, Le Sud delivers delectable dishes made with simple ingredients—a nod to the Mediterranean's ocean fresh seafood, home grown olives, quality olive oil and garlic, and above all else, highlighting peak vegetables, fruits and herbs. Our menu frequently changes to reflect seasonality. Since opening in late summer 2018, Le Sud has become a favorite with our Roscoe Village neighbors and friends from across the city and suburbs. Le Sud was recognized for offering the ‘Best Al Fresco Dining’ in Chicago by Better Magazine in 2019 and 2020.
