Revitalizing one of the oldest methods of food preservation, Sidekick Ferments provides small batch kosher style dills, kimchi, sauerkraut and a variety of other lacto-fermented vegetables to support a healthy gut.
Inspired by flavors they both grew up with, co-creators, Alex and Jenny, started fermenting their own food together over a decade ago. What started as a curiosity, soon evolved into a fascination, making connections between gut health, the soil our food grows and respecting ancestral practice.
In addition to the small batch ferments, kimbap, a popular Korean picnic snack, is also available at the market. This gut-friendly, prepared food item is hand-rolled with organic rice, seaweed and seasoned vegetables that are locally sourced. Both meat and veggie options are available.
All of our products are produced in a commercial kitchen in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago. All lacto-fermented products are HACCP Certified and approved for wholesale in Cook County. Please email for wholesale inquiries.
